Treatments Side Effects

Management of the breast cancer treatment side effects is one of the biggest concerns, particularly vomiting and nausea. While some women need to use prescription drugs for vomiting and nausea, others find that home treatment is enough to reduce their nausea in case it is mild. Every individual is different particularly in terms of the resistance capability of their bodies. You should talk to your doctor and come up with a practical plan that works for you.

During treatment for any stage of breast cancer, following side effects are commonly experienced by women.

  • Vomiting or Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

Other issues that may arise are:

  • Sleep Problems
  • Swelling of the Arm known as lymphedema
  • Hair Loss from Chemotherapy

Home Treatment of the Common Breast Cancer Treatment Side Effects:

The home treatment of vomiting and nausea includes watching for and treating early signs of dehydration like reduced urine output with dark yellow urine, sticky saliva, and a dry mouth.

Diarrhea home treatment is about resting your stomach and being alert for signs and dehydration. Your doctor better be consulted before you use any nonprescription drugs to treat your diarrhea.

When it comes to treating constipation at home, eating a diet that is high in fiber, vegetables, and fruits and gentle exercise along with getting enough fluids. Before using a laxative for your constipation, you should check with your doctor.

While you are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy you may have trouble with fatigue for which the home treatment would be making sure that you are getting extra rest during your treatment.
